Moonbox Productions is delighted to announce open auditions for its fall production, Lost At Sea! Lost At Sea will be a full repertory production of William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and Donald Margulies' Shipwrecked! An Entertainment, in which one extraordinary company of actors comes together to create two compelling narratives about homes lost and found, on land and on sea. The productions will be directed by IRNE- and Elliot-Norton-Award winning director Allison Choat and feature music direction by IRNE-award-winner Dan Rodriguez; they will also feature original music, puppetry, completely live foley sound effects, combat, and choreography all performed by the cast themselves.
The repertory company of Lost At Sea will be performing in residence at the Boston Center for the Arts Plaza Theatre November 19 - December 29, 2018, with performances Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Rehearsals will be held in central Cambridge and will begin no earlier than October 1st. With the exception of tech week, all rehearsals will be scheduled for weekday evenings and weekend days. No prior experience in Shakespearean text, musical performance, puppetry, movement, combat, or foley production is needed to audition – though of course if you have those skills, we'd love to know more about them!
Competitive compensation will be provided, and a very limited number of Equity Guest Contracts may be available for this production. The role of Yamba in Shipwrecked! is specifically written for a female-identifying person of color and will be cast accordingly. Actors of all ages, ethnic backgrounds, and gender identities are welcome and encouraged to audition for all other roles. Please note that roughly half of the production's roles will be pre-cast from Lost At Sea's 2017-2018 workshop preparation group; more information on which roles have been cast will be available on the audition website starting June 12.
Auditions will be held Wednesday, June 13, 7:30-10:00 PM, and Thursday, June 14, 7:50-8:30 PM, with call-backs to follow. All audition events will be held at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education, Roberts Dance Studio, 56 Brattle Street (Harvard Square, Cambridge).
